South Berrington Shepherds' Huts
South Berrington Shepherds’ Huts is set on our farm in North Northumberland, near to Holy Island and the town of Wooler.
The farm is approximately 1000 acres and is mainly arable, with sheep and cattle. The farm has been in Rupert’s family since the early 1970s and was part of a larger estate before that.
The huts are close to the beach and also Lowick village – with 2 pubs and a shop. Holy Island, Ford and Etal Estates, the wild white cattle of Chillingham and Cragside are all nearby. The popular attractions of Bamburgh, Berwick, Wooler and Alnwick are close by. We are 7 miles from the Scottish border which gives easy access to Coldstream, Kelso and other border towns.
I have taken early retirement from my career as a physiotherapist and have designed and built the huts with the help of my friend Brian Corten.
All three huts are unique and reflect my ideas and imagination as well as my desire to accommodate people with mobility impairment.
If you are interested in discussing further hut designs or builds, including if you are looking to create your own hut, please let me know!
